Chapter 97: Voodoo Priest! Deep One!

An aura that made one’s heart palpitate engulfed the area.

The obscure incantation was full of filth, impurity, and twistedness. It sounded as if someone was extolling the existence of a certain taboo in the abyss!

Xue Linglong and others—who were fighting in the snow—felt their blood run cold, and countless goosebumps appeared on their skin.

Many rat-like creatures with messy fur broke out through the ground’s surface and continuously crawled out. Unlike usual rats, these rats all had blood-red eyes that reflected violence and madness.

When Xue Linglong and others went close to the centaur, the bone bow in his hand was switched to double blades. However, under the party’s cooperation, he unavoidably headed toward his end gradually.

On the other side, six-winged Holy Angel Yuna swung the staff in her hands.

Around her, waves of brilliant holy light rippled outward. She was like a big, glorious sun, standing above the zenith.

“Holy Light Blessing!” With Yuna’s delicate cry, a massive screen of holy light appeared.

The splendid holy light screen protected Link, Yang Xuerou—as well as everyone fighting the centaur within it.

The holy light energy clearly caused great damage to these dark and chaotic creatures.

The swarm of rats—which unrolled like a huge, black carpet—were burnt by the holy flame before they even came close to the screen.

They let out pitiful squeals, but the succeeding rats still pounced at Link and company madly!

Not afraid of death! Or rather, they were only left with the instinct to kill their prey.

Layers upon layers of rat bodies—burnt by the holy flame—piled up outside of the light screen!

Meanwhile, Holy Angel Yuna wielded her staff repeatedly, releasing [Holy Light Blessing] and [Holy Light Purification]. This scorched the approaching mischief of rats.

Yang Xuerou’s countenance became slightly pale. But she felt an inexplicable sense of reassurance when she saw Link’s figure that apathetically stood beside her.

It was as if there was nothing to fear as long as this man was present, even if they were on the verge of extermination! It didn’t matter if the heavens fell or if the earth crumbled.

Yang Xuerou calmed down and chanted unhurriedly.

Streaks of spell radiances burst from her staff and provided buffs to her teammates.

Meanwhile, Link watched the overspreading rats with an aloof countenance. He astutely sensed that the true target of the rats didn’t seem to be them.

He only saw the countless rats lifting the pig head—which was the only thing left of the Fallen Butcher.

The rats didn’t let off the Fallen Goblin’s tattered body either. They moved everything toward one direction—it was a forest formed by distorted trees.

A thick mist hung around the forest, so one was unable to get a clear look of what exactly was concealed.

Link stretched out his hand and pointed to the edge where the mist permeated, signaling to Yuna. “There.”

Yuna—who was in midair—nodded and cried out, “Holy Light Purification!”

Within moments, a surge of holy light energy fell in that direction like a meteor falling from the sky!

Boom!

The golden energy ball exploded, and the mist that obstructed their vision was dispelled.

At the edge of the forest, a figure—which was entirely shrouded by a torn cloak—stood with a staff in hand. This figure’s pair of eyes, filled with madness, were greedily watching the forms of Link and company.

By this figure’s side were two other figures. One was armed with a huge axe, yet his body was extremely bent. He had black hair all over his body—he was a ratman!

The other figure was grayish-green from head to foot and covered in pustules. Some pustules had even burst and slowly dripped an unknown liquid outward; it was utterly repulsive! This figure’s head was like a frog’s.

Two eyes bulged outwards, and its large mouth was wide. There were also squirming gills on the two sides of this figure’s neck. The figure’s long, deep-purple tongue hung out.

These figures’ appearances were extremely twisted and absolutely hideous. So much so that low-level Evolvers would also fall into chaos and madness if they stared at these figures for an extended period of time!

Link’s gaze turned cold. The remaining enemies had finally appeared.

It was also then that notifications sounded in everybody’s minds.

[Voodoo Priest]

Name: Cato

Profession: Voodoo Priest (Diamond-grade)

Level: Stage Four, Level 9 (Set according to adventurer’s level!)

Level: Stage Four, Level 7 (Set according to adventurer’s level!)

Introduction: Gray was a ratman living in the crypts. His race was a product of chaos to begin with. They were born from a certain god’s vile interests after he mixed rats and humans together. Gray is even closer to pure chaos and darkness now…

[Deep One]

Name: Jill

Profession: Deep One (Silver-grade)

Level: Stage Four, Level 8

Introduction: Jill was originally a fisherman. He had always been rather lucky, often able to catch large amounts of fish when he went out to sea. However, at some point, he actually developed an absurd thought: He wanted to jump into the deep sea; it seemed as if that was where he belonged.

Jill felt an indescribable fear toward his own thoughts. However, not only did this thought not fade with time, but it became even stronger instead. Following his increasing age, Jill’s appearance gradually became strange. His body even emitted a stench that resembled dead fish. Hence, he began to keep away from humans.

During a certain trip out to sea, he disappeared into the vast and mysterious ocean forever…

It was three Stage Four monsters again. A fearsome might shook this place; it made one terrified!

The suppression emanating from the Voodoo Priest was even nearing that of a Stage Five existence!

The rats placed the Fallen Butcher’s and Fallen Goblin’s corpses in front of the Voodoo Priest.

The Voodoo Priest’s palm—which was hidden beneath the tattered robes—gradually opened, radiating a green light. He drew two illusory souls out of the corpses.

A dim glow then emerged in the Voodoo Priest’s eyes. He looked at these two souls as if they were some kind of delicacies.

Without hesitation, he stuffed the two souls into his mouth. At the same time, the aura radiating from the Voodoo Priest became even scarier!

Stage Four, Level 9… Stage Four, Level 10… Stage Five, Level 1… Stage Five, Level 3…

His level swiftly rose, and a great sense of crisis enveloped everyone!
