Rewind System: Vampire Harem In The Apocalypse

71 Chapter 71: The Smiling Ogre (Part 3)

“I don’t know who you are but I’ll give you a little warning… I’m feeling depressed right now…” Muttered Xavier as he sent him a glare. “So just fuck off while you still can…”

The bloodlust being let off by Xavier, the glare in his eyes it set off all of their danger senses.

There was no doubt about it, he was the devourer.

“Ha… Hahah… Hahahahahaha….”

The smiling ogre slowly began to rise with only his feet planted into the ground as he let out a menacing readying his daggers as he did so.

ɴ[0)ᴠᴇʟ Xavier took this as a sign he was itching for a fight.

“Aah… What a fucking pain.” Xavier complained as he took off his supply bag, kicking it off to the sides to not end up ripping it mid battle.

After doing so, Xavier took a step back and entered his stance. The instant he took the step howevever-

*SLING!*

Xavier’s eyes widened as threads suddenly surrounded and wrapped themselves around his body, binding him as they dug into his skin..

Veins bulged out of Xavier’s neck and arms, as the more he struggled to get out, the tighter the threads dug in.

*SWOOSH!*

And by the time Xavier had realised it, the smiling masked ogre was already standing before him with both daggers in hand in a swing towards Xavier’s neck.

[Rewind Level 2: Retract.]

*SLASH!*

A grin grew on the ogre’s face as he watched the dagger pass right through the threads, Xavier’s figure was no longer being held captive.

Without even bothering to check where it was, the smiling ogre sent an axe kick down below whilst glancing down.

*BAM!*

There Xavier was, crouched down below him holding onto his kick.

Veins bulged out of Xavier’s arm and his grip tightened around the smiling ogre’s leg before he swung his arm down to slam the smiling ogre into the ground.

Right as he swung his arm however-

The smiling ogre rotated his entire body, completely breaking and dislocating the bones his leg before landing a spinning kick across the side of Xavier’s face.

*WHAM!*

The impact sent Xavier flying across the store, his back slamming onto shell after shell before coming to a stop after only the 5th shell.

Quickly getting up to recover, Xavier’s eyes narrowed as he watched the smiling ogre’s leg suddenly spin itself back into place. All the broken bones had recovered in that short of a time frame.

Xavier’s eyes then widened as he noticed countless thin strands of thread around him. He’d been kicked to the centre of a trap. Looking down, he could see countless intertwined threads around his legs.

‘Fuck… I must have been caught after the kick sent me flying… That being said that fucker’s ability to regenerate is clearly levels above mine… What is he?’

“Give up.”

Xavier glanced to the side, as a different, feminine voice entered the battle. To said side, in between the shelves Xavier could see a rather short, gorgeous girl whose hair was a luminous shade of orange with the edges being a bright red.

Her hands were stretched out and upon closer inspection, Xavier could see threads coming out of her finger tips.

‘So it was her..’

“this isn’t a battle you-“

[Rewind Level 2: Retract.]

Without bothering to hear what she had to say, Xavier’s figure vanished completely, appearing the exact position he’d been before getting kicked. This included one arm being raised up holding onto nothing.

The smiling ogre who had moved to approach Xavier looked back grinning behind his mask while the luminous orange haired Vampire girl glared at Xavier.

“Hey! At least finish listening to what I had to say first!” She complained.

‘If I’d listened I would have missed the timer to retract back into a safe position.’

The time limit for [Retract.] an ability that allowed Xavier to revert to a previous position was still 5 seconds.

Ignoring her, Xavier kept his eyes on the smiling ogre who approached once more, Xavier also made sure to keep the threads in check.

As long as he fought on the opposite side of the store, he should have been fine. After all, there was no way they set up threads all around was there?

“Also, Ogre, be careful. I think he has an ability other than devour. This one allows him to teleport or rather move himself to a position he was previously at.” She said.

Xavier narrowed his eyes. He wasn’t surprised that she figured it out. His teleportation had given it away, for starters he reverted into a position he had where he was grabbing onto the Ogre’s legs with his arm raised up.

Only problem was, the ogre was no longer there, and if Xavier could truly teleport, why teleport in that position? There was only one possible conclusion for this, and she figured it out.

“Also, Ogre… There’s probably a time limit to it, how far back a position he can take was. Otherwise he would have gone for a more favourable… Less obvious position. Judging by the time frame, I’d say… 5 sec-“

*SWOOSH!*

The girl was interrupted, by a packet of ham, launched at her by Xavier while she spoke. The threads instantly banded together before her however, blocking the piece of ham, stopping them from making contact with her.

The ogre who had listened in on everything, charged at Xavier with a grin and a greater understanding of his ability. Meanwhile she slowly approached from the sides, setting up more and more of her threads while waiting for an opportunity to attack.

‘She’s smart and those thread of hers… Should I go for her first-‘

*SWOOSH!*

Xavier’s thoughts were interrupted, he bent backwards and watched as a swing passed right by him, cutting off strands of hair before another one descended down him from above.

*CLANG!*

Xavier parried the swing with a swing of his own after drawing his blade. The moment where the two were knocked back was grasped by Xavier who kicked off the smiling ogre’s chest to create distance.

*BAM!*

Xavier’s figure was sent sliding back before being backed against a thread. Glancing away from the thread towards the Ogre, Xavier’s eyes widened, before his eyes were two daggers approaching simultaneously.
