“Impossible… This shouldn’t be possible…” The Vampire Noble muttered with tears streaming down his face as he looked around.

Countless beheaded corpses of other Vampires could be seen laying around, around 20 in total. There were spheres of blood above the corpses which had their blood streaming into the a giant blood sphere resting in the sky above.

That giant bloods sphere had a single stream of blood flowing out of it, all into Xavier’s mouth.

*Gulp* *Gulp* *Gulp*

Xavier indulged in the sweetness of the blood showing no signs of growing full as he continued to drink.

The countless notifications were ringing inside of his mind without stop. Ignoring them, Xavier looked around.

The entire backyard was filled with corpses of Vampires, their corpses all looked as if they’d been mummified emphasizing on how drained of blood they were.

Above the mummified corpses was a giant sphere of blood. As he stared at it, a notification popped up in a screen beside it.

While gulping Xavier suddenly heard a loud sound ring inside of his head.

Xavier’s eyes widened.

Xavier’s heart began to pump as he opened his mouth with an excited look.

“How… How did you kill them all… So fast…?” The Vampire beneath Xavier asked with a shaky voice.

Xavier looked down at the Vampire beneath him, staring at him with his cold clock-like eyes as he asked.

“Did I say you could talk?”

The Vampire felt shivers rushed down his spine, after glancing at the long sword which Xavier was holding onto, the Vampire instantly shut his mouth before lowering his head, trembling as the dread rushed through his bones.

Seeing him quiet down, Xavier let out a sigh before looking up at the screen before him.

Xavier was semi-impressed by his stats, they had improved a lot thanks to his evolution but all the blood which he’d devoured didn’t give him as much of a boost as he thought.

‘The more blood I devour the slower the growth…? That’s strange… Is it because they were all weaker than me?’ Xavier wondered as he continued to gulp down on the blood.

But that didn’t bother him, for there it was the two new skills he’d absorbed.

It was strange how those were the only two skills he managed to obtain out of an orb filled with the blood of twenty different Vampires, all with their own abilities at their disposal.

“Is there some sort of requirement necessary for absorbing? If I recall correctly those two skills were the ones that did the most damage to me… Maybe that’s it?” Xavier theorised.

Xavier sighed as the system continued to focus on the stats being added.

“Oh well, there’s still some blood left… I should be able to hit the hundreds if I continue to drink.” Said Xavier as he got up.

*Gulp* *Gulp* *Gulp*

After three more gulps, he wiped his mouth before turning to the mansion.

“But I can’t do that can I? I only wiped out the Vampires hiding around the back. There’s still the dumbasses that are coming through the front door and the sides…”

Xavier glanced at the blood orb, it was one fourth of it’s initial size.

There were still 30 minutes left until it disappeared.

“No time to finish drinking it, I’ll leave this blood orb here while I go deal with them.” Xavier muttered to himself.

Xavier looked down at the Vampire beneath him with a smile as he thought of something.

“How many of you guys are there?” Xavier questioned as his ears twitched.

He could hear the sounds of them breaking into the mansion, as well as the cries of the servants in hiding.

“Th-There were fifty in total…” He muttered.

Upon the mention of the number ‘fifty’ a grin grew on Xavier’s face. It was a grin filled with gratitude an excitement, as if he was thankful for their large number.

‘So this… Is the Devourer… Just who was it…? Who thought that we could win against such a monster?’

‘It was never the redbloods we had to look out for… It was just him… Large numbers don’t work against him, they just make him stronger… Even the four marquess’s couldn’t stop him… Those four were our strongest…’

‘There’s no saving me… Maybe if I get on my hands and knees and beg he’ll let me go?’

After getting a good look at Xavier’s devilish grin however, the Vampire knew it wouldn’t have changed anything. It was clear that he was relishing this situation.

While the Vampire was analysing the situation and having an internal monologue however, Xavier could be seen excitedly skipping away from him towards the mansion. A bright red blush could be seen on his face as he thought of all the ways to try out his new abilities.

Raising his head, the Vampire made an expression of confusion and relief as Xavier walked away.

‘He’s leaving me?’

“I-I’m free to go…?” He asked as tears began streaming down his face.

Hearing him, Xavier suddenly stopped before turning to him with a smile and saying.

“Ah, no- You… You’re already dead.” Said Xavier.

The Vampire’s brows raised in surprise, as he noticed the blood dripping down his neck. His neck sliding off of his body was that last thing the Vampire saw before letting out his last breath.

*Thud*

His head collapsed onto the floor.

“Because of the information you gave me, I made it painless.” Said Xavier before resuming his skipping.

After a few skips however, he remembered something.

“Didn’t I have over 200 energy before? Why did it go down to 100?]

[Energy has been capped at 100]

[From now on attacks will consume less energy the higher your stamina, energy also recharges faster the higher your stamina stat.]

Xavier listened to the system’s explanation with the same smile present.

“Hm~ That sounds useful.”

Inside of the mansion, a group of Vampires of around fifteen Vampires could be seen standing by the entrance. Blood was splattered all across the walls and carpet.

Ahead of them were ten corpses of Cloaked Vampires with their faces covered by shadows.

They were the redblood’s assassination and defence squad. Unfortunately for them, they were wiped out.

There were also some additional Vampires wearing maid uniforms all around. They were the mansion’s servants.

“Those fuckers took out almost half of our numbers…” Said one of the Vampires as they looked at the corpses of their allies.

The Vampire in the lead of them, ignored the massacre and remained focused on the objective. Walking past the corpses and up towards the stairs.

“Search all the rooms.” He ordered as he walked over the corpses and up the stairs. “We must assassinate the Redblood while the ones at the back buy us time.”

The Vampires Morales were at the top, after all they were being led by another high ranked noble. Earl Darick.

With the four marquess’s gone, he was the highest ranked one they had available.

Even with the four marquess gone, there were still 20 Vampires all to keep the devourer in check. There was no telling how much time it would buy them, but they were certain it’d be enough to finish of the young lady.

‘Even if she’s unsealed, I’ll-‘

The Earl’s thoughts were interrupted as the sound of glass shattering suddenly echoed across the quiet mansion.

All of the remaining fifteen Vampires ears twitched as they looked up the stairs over towards the room which harboured the sound.

The earl who was at the top of the stairs, ahead of most of them, was startled for a second but after snapping back into it, he quickly ran towards said room.

“After! They’re trying to escape!” He shouted as his figure blurred, reaching the top in a second before slamming the door open.

*SLAM!*

The moment he slammed the door open however- his eyes widened a hand grabbed onto his face, instnatly halting him.

“You were saying?” Asked a young man as he emerged from the room, holding the earl up by his face.

Short spiky silver hair with crimson red eyes. It was Xavier.
