The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

Chapter 83 - Zhenyi's Predicament

Zhenyi followed Mrs.Xie inside the foyer of their new home correction — house, since Long Jie had no intention of dropping the home- bomb anytime soon, she was not going to call this place her home either, but it didn’t mean she wouldn’t ask him on the behalf of her broken and shattered dreams, she had just sewed in the morning.

Mrs. Xie took her to the dining room where her soon to be the dead husband or very soon to be ex-husband was waiting for her for breakfast like he had not given her enough of the bullshit to swallow in the early morning after his call with God knew who ended after several long minutes which felt like infinity to her.

Long Jie smiled at his wife when he saw her approaching the dining table with Mrs. Xie. He stood up and pulled a chair next to his for her.

Lord, the man had the audacity to smile and display chivalry after feeding her bullshit for days. How badly she wanted to dump the food on this head!

It wouldn’t be a big deal for any married couple to live separately from their family after marriage but it was for her and them. Because Long Jie would be occupying Long Shaoming’s place as the head of the clan anytime soon as he had fulfilled the only condition they had laid down before him by marrying her.

It was as important for the head of the family to live at the family residence as it was for the King to live at his palace to rule his people. Though Long Jie was no king he was no less than one either.

Servants came and served Zhenyi and Long Jie their breakfast.

Her gaze swept across the table and much to her surprise all the delicacies were either according to her taste or her favorites and she wondered what he did or offered to bribe her father to get the information, and not to forget how petty Xin Yichen truly was.

“Is breakfast not up to your liking? “Long Jie asked his wife with a frown when he saw her constantly staring at the knife and fork in front of her. Surprisingly, he had thought if she was still planning on murdering him.

Nevertheless, he didn’t wish to die with knives and forks, it was not up to his mighty standards of death. Of course, Longs had standards of expiration too.

“No, the food is fine. Thank you,” She replied with her standard business-like smile. She wanted to stab his face with the fork and tell him it was him and his bullshit that she didn’t like but it would be a waste of such a handsome face.

However, Zhenyi kept her thoughts to herself and took a bite. Even though the food was up to her liking, she could not swallow it as she reminisced the conversation she had in the garden with Mrs. Xie. On the other hand, Long Jie heartily savored the food oblivious to the storm of doubts and mistrusts brewing in Zhenyi’s mind and heart. Long Jie was delighted as for the first time he was having breakfast with his wife and only he knew what he had to trade with his miser father-in-law to get the list of her likings and dislikings.

“Do you like the place?”Long Jie asked cautiously.

Zhenyi nodded as she took a sip of her coffee. ” The place is quite beautiful.”Even if Zhenyi was upset she didn’t let him know her predicament. If there was one thing Zhenyi was genius at, it faking nonchalance as if what others did to her didn’t matter at all. To the world, she was insensitive, apathetic, and cruel. It was like others that didn’t deserve her emotions!

Long Jie left his chair and went near her. He circled her arms around her and rested his chin on her head.

Zhenyi felt his arms touching her, she didn’t respond and let him do whatever he was doing.

“God, I missed you,” Long Jie said breathing her scent. He had formed a habit of breathing her scent whenever she was near. It smelled like solace, her and home.

“You missed me?” Zhenyi asked in confusion. ” I haven’t left your side even for a minute.”

“You didn’t but I did wife,” said Long Jie with a mischievous smile on his face but unfortunately it was not apparent to Zhenyi.

“I left your side for more than ten minutes. Shouldn’t I be compensated for my loss?”

” And what you need—“

Before Zhenyi could complete her sentence he twirled her chair to face him and connected his lips to hers. She tasted bitter and sweet. He could smell coffee on her breath. Zhenyi opened her mouth to remind him of their surroundings but he took advantage of the moment to enter her mouth. Ignoring the common sense and surrounding she let herself immersed in the kiss and her hands went to his hair. The dilemmas could go to damm but right now she needed this. Long Jie broke the kiss after several minutes and then pecked her lips, leaving Zhenyi gasping for a air.

“Now I feel better,” said Long Jie with a grin and Zhenyi rolled her eyes in return.

Shameless.

And a liar too.

“You are impossible!” Zhenyi grunted in response.

Long Jie saw that she had finished her breakfast and then decided to break out their itinerary for the evening.

Earlier, he got a call from his father who ordered him to come back to Long Mansion but Long Jie had no intention of obeying it. The days had passed like autumn passed before the arrival of spring, when he used to obey what he ordered. New season, new hope. New King, new laws. Wasn’t it how it had always been for centuries?

No matter how much his father persuaded him, there was no way he was going to live with his bride at the Mansion. He loathed the place to the essence of being a Long, and there was no way he would taint his new life with his past’s awful memories and reminisces.

They could have Long Mansion all they want he didn’t even wish to have a single brick of the horrible place. Only Lord knew how much he wanted to set fire to his childhood home and see it burning into ashes with his naked eyes.
